Need Records Fast?
Express Service is for You!
Read On!

Introduction

Jewish Records Indexing - Poland and the Polish State Archives (PSA) have launched an Express Service for ordering records using the JRI-Poland Shopping Basket order system. This Service is currently available from three Archive branches participating in a Pilot Project.

Express Service enables researchers who need records quickly (within a week) to acquire them at a premium price. Only records that are currently available through the JRI-Poland Shopping Basket order system can be ordered using Express Service.

Records available through the Shopping Basket System are only those indexed as part of the JRI-Poland/PSA Project. Records indexed from LDS Microfilms or other sources are NOT included in the Shopping Basket System.

Express Service orders must be placed by FAX with payment only by Credit Card (VISA and MasterCard). Records will be scanned by the Archives and the images will be sent to researchers via email.

    Features of Express Service

Researchers who desire to acquire records more quickly than the usual 30 to 90 day processing timeframe should consider using Express Service. Express Service is a premium service. Each record ordered will cost the researcher $20. However, there is a minimum charge per branch of $30. (Therefore, if you order one record from Lodz and one from Pultusk, the total charge will be $60.)

    Express Service Ordering Procedure

All records to be ordered using Express Service can be included in one order. Regular Service and Express Service orders cannot be combined; separate orders must be prepared - one for Regular Service and another for Express Service. Your Express Shopping Basket can include orders from more than one PSA Archive or branch only if the Archive is listed above. Separate orders are automatically created for each branch.

After creating/building your Express order (see the Step-by-Step Guide for more information), complete your order by clicking "Click here to complete your order (ready for faxing)." On the Order Form Entry Template, simply check the Express Service box.

Express Service requires that payment be made by credit card (VISA and MasterCard only) and that the order and credit card form be sent to the JRI-Poland Order Processing Center by Fax. The credit card form is linked to the PAYMENT section of the Order Form. Print out your Express Order and fax this order and the credit card form to the Order Processing Center at (1) 435-578-8945.

The JRI-Poland Order Processing Center will process researcher payments and electronically transmit the order(s) to the Archive(s) within one working day.

The Archives that are equipped to handle Express Orders will process the order within 3 working days for orders of up to 10 records. For orders of 11 to 25 records, orders will be processed within 5 working days.

The records will be scanned and the electronic image will be sent as an email attachment to the email address provided by the researcher on the Order Form Entry Template.

Contacting the JRI-Poland Order Processing Center

  • Surviving records less than 100 years old are held in the Civil Records Offices (Urzad Stanu Cywilnego) of each town.

For information on the 20th century records available for your town, visit the Routes to Roots Foundation website, CLICK ON THE 'SEARCH DATABASE' button (on the right side) and enter the town name. Look for the town name in the Repository/City column of the search results. There are typically links to lists of available births, marriage and death records for the town.

Note, however, the Routes to Roots Foundation database may indicate turn of the century records that have already been transferred to the appropriate branch of the Polish State Archives where they can be indexed for the JRI-Poland database.
