“They Fought Back: Jewish Heroines of Auschwitz”

Through genealogical research, Allan Mallenbaum discovered that his second cousin, Rosa Robota of Ciechanow, was a leader of the October 1944 revolt of Auschwitz’s Sonderkommando unit – the work-detail of prisoners who tended the crematoria. Allan will describe his research and share the moving story of this courageous 23-year-old resistance fighter.

A longtime member and past board member of the JGSLI, Allan is past president of the Computer Genealogy Society of Long Island and a founding member of the Federation of Genealogical Societies of L.I.
