SPEAKER:  Rhoda Miller, Ed.D., CG

“Who Do You Think You Are, Lauren Fox?”

Lauren Fox, website developer for the JGS of Long Island, knew she had Jewish roots but knew very little about her ancestry. Upon exploration, she learned her great-grandfather was the renowned Yiddish author Chaim Leib Fox. Following family stories and DNA results, Lauren’s ancestry revealed so very much more about how her family intertwined with the Holocaust and other earlier historical events and people. Join us for the telling of this unpredictable story and strategies that can help you in your own family research.

Rhoda Miller, Ed.D., CG has been a Certified Genealogist since 1998 and presents regularly at the annual conference of the International Association of Jewish Genealogy Societies as well as at libraries and community organizations. Rhoda is Past President of the Jewish Genealogy Society of Long Island and a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists. She teaches credit-bearing courses in genealogy and the Holocaust at Dowling College and has extensive research experience. She has volunteered on many New York City and environs genealogy projects and photographed several cemeteries which were contributed to JewishGen’s JOWBR project. With travel and research in Poland, Lithuania, and Belarus, Rhoda is keenly aware of the joys and challenges of Jewish genealogy research.
