10.2.1889: Rev Mark Louis Harris of Kimberley, was appointed minister to the Witwatersrand hebrew congregation. In March 1890 daily services, morning and evening, were instituted.

[From the 'Jewish Chronicle'.]

The Rev. M. Harris of Exeter was among victims of the railway accident at Hornby Junction. Great kindness was shown to him by a Christian gentleman, Mr Cocking. When Mr Cocking ascertained Mr Harris was a Jew he went to Sheffield and obtained the services of Rev. Mr Tuchman, minister of the congregation. 18.12.1874

The Rev. Mark Harris, who received severe spinal injuries in a railway accident which occurred near Sheffield, has been removed from Holmes Station Hotel to London, in order more attention can be paid to the patient, who lies in a precarious condition. 1.1.1875 (Jewish World)

Mr Harris, a Jewish minister of Exeter, has received £800 as compensation for personal injuries and losses sustained by him in a railway accident which occurred on the Midland railway line. 19.11.1875.
