Congregation Data

Cork's first Jewish Congregation

It is not known whether the community formally established a synagogue. If it did, it would likely be close to the cemetery in Kemp Street.

Date Founded:

Between 1731 and 1747 - according to some sources Jews did not settle in Cork until 1772

Current Status:

Closed by 1796. This community appears to have died out as a result of intermarriage.

Kemp Street (discovered a the rear of the present synagogue)
