The building dates from 1885 and was used as school until the purchased by the congregation. Previously the congregation met in the Avenue Primary School and the Leicester Quakers Meeting House and prior to that in members' homes.

  • (ii) The Hebrew name is a tribute to the village near Jerusalem known as Neve Shalom (Wahat al Salam, in Arabic) in which Jewish and Arab citizens of Israel live together.
