Hull Old Hebrew Congregation
(initially simply known as the Hull Hebrew Congregation)

Address:

Osborne Road, Hull (foundation laid in 1902, opened 10 September 1903, enlarged 1932, destroyed by German air raid 1941, reopened 1955)

Former Address:

Robinson Row, Hull (foundation laid 27 February 1826, opened 18 June 1827, rebuilt and re-consecrated 26 September 1852,  closed 1903). Had room for 200 men and 80 women. 

Founded:

Founded 1826, to replace and combine the Posterngate Synagogue and the Parade Row Synagogue. The first foundation stone of the synagogue in Robinson Row was laid by Solomon Meyer (of the Posterngate Synagogue) and the second by Israel Jacobs (of the Parade Row Synagogue)

Current Status:

Closed 1993 - combined with Hull Western Synagogue to form Hull Hebrew Congregation

1851 - 9 members and 70 seatholders (Chief Rabbi's census)

1852 - 82 seatholders (Board of Deputies Returns)

1861 - 82 seatholders (Board of Deputies Returns)

1870 - 110 members (Board of Deputies Returns)

1880 - 125 members (Board of Deputies Returns)

1890 - 153 members (Board of Deputies Returns)

1900 - 170 members (Board of Deputies Returns)

180 seatholders (Jewish Year Book 1900-01)

1935 - 240 seatholders (Jewish Year Book 1935)
