A  -  The Exeter community was originally a flourishing one, and its foundation dates back to the middle of the eighteenth century. In 1842 there were about 30 families, or between 175 and 200 individuals, and in 1845 there were 14 :Ba'ale Batim„ There were 52 appropriated seats in 1851 and about 175 individual members. The average attendance 1851 was 55, and in 1852 there were 21 seatholders.

Synagogue Mary Arches Street, Founded 1822.
First synagogue erected. 1764, rebuilt 1836. Has seat accommodation for 90 persons; males 54, females 36. Seat rentals 6s. to £7.7s. per annum.

Synagogue St. Mary Arches, S.W. (founded 130 yeras ago).
Seatholders 6. The annuak income averages £32.
