Description: Bedford's first Jewish congregations
Chronology & Addresses: 1803 - A congregation was formed by Michael Joseph, but this was dismantled in 1827.
1827 to 1837 - No organised congregation
1837 - Congregation meets in a room in Offa Street, St. Peter's and subsequently in a Synagogue in High Street, St. Peter's, which closed about 1853.
1903 - Congregation re-established, but this also closed
1939 - Establishment of latest congregation. see Bedford United Hebrew Congregation
Ritual: Ashkenazi Orthodox
