Stanley Szapira

I am the great grandson of Annie Szapira who bequeathed the large stained glass window in the Shul. Her family lived in Boston and her husband was Lewis Szapira. They had 4 sons namely Moses, Solomon, Samson and Bert.

My grandfather was Solomon. He left for SA in 1899. Moses changed his name to Napier and his descendants are all over England. Samson  married  and his children went to Canada. Bert changed his name to Bernard and some children went to the USA but a son remained in Yorkshire. There are other branches of the Szapira family (Lewis's brothers ) who settled in Brighton but I have been unable to trace them. Annie was a Kaminsky and is buried in the Hull Cemetery along with her mother, brother and Lewis.

Kindly donated by Stanley Szapira
