S. History, Local History & Genealogy Division is located in the Central Research Library of The New York Public Library. The Division collects materials documenting American History on the national, state and local level, Genealogy, Heraldry, Personal and Family Names, and Flags. The Division is one of the largest genealogical and local history collections open to the public in this country, and, as such, it is one of the most heavily used divisions in the Library. What follows is a selective list of resources available to family historians at The New York Public Library, and information about The Library. Periodicals ~~~~~~~~~~~ The Library subscribes to hundreds of genealogical journals, including New York Genealogical and Biographical Record, New England Historical and Genealogical Register, Genealogical Helper, Genealogists's Magazine, as well as certain family newsletters.
