bohmor2 4495 990927 Bohemia-Moravia SIG (Czech Republic) +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ BOHEMIA-MORAVIA SIG Located mostly in the Czech Republic +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ A JewishGen InfoFile I. Introduction: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Bohemia-Moravia SIG is dedicated to serving as an information gathering vehicle and clearinghouse for Jewish genealogical as well as historical information relating to Jewish communities in the areas formerly known as Bohemia and Moravia. Most of this area is today the Czech Republic. Because of the very close ties between the Bohemia-Moravia area and Austria (especially Vienna, where so many Bohemian and Moravian Jews migrated in the 19th century), our discussions will also include information related to Austrian Jewish genealogy. For Slovakian and Hungarian genealogy, please subscribe to the Hungarian-SIG. For Galician genealogy, please subscribe to the Galicia-SIG. For German genealogy, please subscribe to the German-Jewish-SIG. We have established this mailing list in order to facilitate communication among individuals of similar interests. The mailing list will be moderated and will follow the guidelines established for the JewishGen Discussion Group, and other mailing lists hosted by JewishGen. Please read http://www.jewishgen.org/infofiles/rules.htm particularly the section on "netiquette." The material gathered will eventually be made available via a Bohemia-Moravia Web page. We would be happy to receive any relevant material you may be willing to submit, including (but not limited to) research resources, photographs, translations from the Yizkor Books, business directories, and firsthand anecdotes of life in Bohemia and Moravia. For questions concerning material contributions to the SIG, please contact: Sharla Levine, Coordinator Bohemia-Moravia SIG Any other comments or questions of general interest to the entire forum should be addressed to the Bohemia-Moravia SIG's mail list at: II.
