In the interim, Beider's A Dictionary of Jewish Surnames from the Kingdom of Poland (1996) and A Dictionary of Jewish Surnames from the Russian Empire (1993) are extremely useful. Although these books are about surnames, not given names, many Jewish surnames were based upon given names. Beider lists many name variants and his introductions provide extensive historical background.

More details about each of these works can be found in the bibliography on Jewish given names.
