At the beginning: the polish roots

My

My great grandfather was called Daniel WAJSER, and he was born in Zamosc(POLAND) on March 29th, 1877.

Daniel WAJSER was the son of :
Aron Mordka WAJSER.
and
Fraidla WAGNER (born around the year 1850).


Daniel WAJSER belonged to a COHEN family from the province of Lublin (Poland).

He had a lot of brothers and sisters but I (still) don't know all of them.
I just know the names of 4 of his brothers: Moshe WAJSER, born around the year 1864 and alive around 1925 in Warsaw; Dwora BAL (?) born WAJSER arount the year 1874 and allive in Zamosc around 1925; Nachemia (Henry) WAYSER, born in Zamosc (Poland) on July 4, 1889 and died in Paris in 1979; and a older brother named Julien WAJSER (his French name), I just know that this brother was the first who emigrated to France, I think in the late 1910's- before Daniel and Nachemia.


Daniel WAJSER got married to Leja DORN in Tomaszow on February 7, 1903.
Leja DORN was born in Tomaszow, Poland on March 27, 1875 and died in Paris on June 10, 1949.
She was daughter of:
Hershko DORN
and Tema BERGERBAUM (both from Tomaszow).
At the time of his wedding, Daniel WAJSER was living in the village Maidan Gorny (district of Tomaszow).


WAJSER Daniel and Leja DORN's children were :
Esther Roza BERZKOWSKI, born WAJSER (1903-1942)
Gitla KUTNER born WAJSER (1908-1996)
my grandfather, Aaron Mordchaj WAJSER (1909-1945)
Naftali Hercz WAJSER (1914-1942).


Daniel WAJSER died in Paris 10 (FRANCE) on January 4
1962.

The immigration to France

Daniel WAJSER was born in ZAMOSC (POLAND).
He went to WARSAW, there met and married Leja DORN, and all his children were born there (Gitla, Rosa Esther, Naftali Herzc and Aaron Mordchaj).
They were living in Dzielna St ,51-53, in Warsaw - and Daniel WAJSER with his spouse Laja DOREN, were working in their newspaper shop.

During the WW1, Daniel WAJSER was soldier in the Russian army, in the Russian 2nd horse cavalery of General Samsonoff, and had been made POW in 1914 in Koenisberg battle. He stayed in the SAGAN prisoners of war camp in upper Silesia (Germany) until the end of the war.

In the 1920's, Daniel WAJSER emigrated to FRANCE, straightly from Germany. After that, in July 1920, his wife and his children joined him to FRANCE.
There, they lived in 71 Bd de la Villette, in Paris.
They became officially French citizens in January 1929.

The years 1939-1945

During the WW2, Daniel WAJSER was not arrested by the Gestapo and lived at the same above address, and with his true name, during all the Nazi Occupation.

Naftali Herzc WAJSER, Daniel's son, was living with his parents in Paris, Bd de la Villette, until he was arrested by the French Police in the second rafle (the eleventh district of Paris rafle) on August 20, 1941
Naftali was deported by the first convoy that departed from the Royallieu camp near Compiegne on March 27, 1942. It was the first convoy of French Jews.
Naftalie Herzc got the prisoner number 28311 and was killed in Auschwitz on April 11, 1942, a few days after his arrival to the extermination camp.

My grandfather, Aaron Mordchaj WAJSER, got married with Suzanne
BUKSPAN in the winter 1942 (February 26, 1942) in Lyon 1, where they were to live together after their wedding, 57 rue Etienne Richerand.

My great aunt, Rosa Esther Berzkowski, was deported with her

My grandfather, Aaron Mordchaj WAJSER, who was born in Warsaw (POLAND) on March 11th, 1909, got married in Lyon with Suzanne BUKSPAN, my grandmother.

She was born in Paris 20 (FRANCE) in 1917, and she was the daughter of Wolf Leibus BUKSPAN (born in Nova Alexandria, in Polish: PULAWY) and Charlotte PULS. Before she got married with my grand father, Suzanne BUKSPAN was living with her parents in Lyon too, 4 rue du Platre.

In the autumn 1943, they decided to leave Lyon and to try to reach the port of Toulon (south of France)or to reach Spain.
Before that they put my mother Charlette WAJSER (1942-2003) in the Moissac Home in Southern France, so as to save her.

But the two French people that made to my grandparents their wrong ID cards, denounced them to the Germans.
They were arrested by the police in the train, in Toulouse on November 13, 1943, and were sent to the Drancy Internment Camp, in the Parisian suburb.
Aaron Mordchaj WAJSER died in a concentration camp in Muhldorf (Germany), in the end of January 1945.
Suzanne BUKSPAN was assassinated by the Nazis in Auschwitz-Birkenau, on December 25th, 1943. She was killed by gas, but the real cause of her death may be the typhus disease.
