The Moskovitz family from Tovarnianska Polianka and Hencovce, Slovakia

The Moskovitz family from Tovarnianska Polianka and Hencovce, Slovakia

This account of the Moskovitz family is written by Uriel Frisch,
grandson (on the maternal side) of Moise/Moshe/Morris Moskovitz, born
on May 15, 1881 in Tavarna Polyanka, Zemplen County, Hungary (now
Tovarnianska Polianka, Slovakia).

Moise Moskovitz died in Zurich in 1928. He was the son of Simon Moskovitz,
born on June 15, 1851 in Henczocz, Zemplen County, Hungary (now Hencocve,
Slovakia) and of Mirjam/Maria/Mary born Berkovitz/Berkovics on February 1,
1856 in Lyubise, Zemplen county, Hungary (now Lubisa, Slovakia).
Simon and Mirjam had 7 more children, all born in Tavarna Polyanka:
Benjamin/Bernat (July 10, 1876), Max (July 12, 1878),
Sarah/Sali (April 10, 1883), Fannie (March 12, 1888[uncertain]),
Megnai (March 21, 1892), Ignace (September 10[uncertain] 1894),
Abram/Adolf (August 12[uncertain], 1896).

The whole family emigrated to Pennsylviana, USA. Simon and Mirjam
and their 4 younger children arrived in Philadelphia on April 7, 1903 on the
Friesland from Liverpool. They settled in Eynon near Scranton, PA.
The elder children were already in the USA. Simon, his wife and the younger
children acquired US citizenship in 1908.

In 1964, my wife and I visited Aby (probably Abram) Moskovitz in
Glenside, PA, near Philadelphia. There has been no contact since.
