JewishGen Family Links Database

ADDING A LINK TO THE FAMILY DATABASE

A Family Home Page is designed on the Web and has a unique URL address.  These URL addresses are prefaced with "http://".  If you do not have a family home page established with another service provider, please skip Section 1 and continue on to Section 2.

Section 1 - Existing Home Pages

If you already have an Internet Home Page for your family and would like to create a link to your existing site please choose this option:

A record created with a wrong Internet Address (URL) will be automatically deleted by the system.

Section 2 - Create A Family Home Page

First, view a page created by the JewishGen Family Home Page Generator

Second, JewishGen will allow anyone to create their Family Home Page through the Generator which will be stored on the JewishGen web server.  Due to the financial constraints of housing substantial amounts of data, JewishGen, Inc. has established this as a "fee-based" service, only as a means of providing funds to pay for such services.  There will be a mandatory contribution to JewishGen of $25.00 per family page per year to offset storage costs, payable by credit card, in advance.  You will be able to modify and change your data at any time.  JewishGen has provided a guestbook service to keep track of the visitors to your site and an email link.  If you want to proceed for processing of your payment, please click on the button below.

Third, Here are some suggestions on what and how to create your Family Home Page on the JewishGen Home Page Generator.  The form is broken down into 4 sections.  Each section has a TITLE AREA and a TEXT AREA.  You can produce Family Registers from your favorite genealogy package in a word processor and cut and paste the information into the text areas.  This is not a hyperlinked GEDCOM to HTML converter, although we are looking at ways to automate and add that feature in the future.

A Family Home Page does not take the place of the JewishGen Family Finder (JGFF), a surname and town search engine.  A Family Home Page is a way to share more information about the families you are researching which will be accessible to thousands who participate in the JewishGen web site each day.  So with this in mind...
