JewishGen education

Basic Jewish Genealogy
This Basic Genealogy Course consists of eight lessons (about 15-20 pages each), delivered online twice weekly (you can read online or download the lessons). It covers using genealogy forms, formats and nomenclature, organizing and tracking information, Jewish history and naming conventions, U.S. vital records, U.S. Census and U.S. passenger manifests, and the JewishGen website and databases. It contains hints and tips on how best to use your computer and the internet.
We also feature an interactive Forum where you can post your questions and one of your ancestral branches, and get suggestions and answers from your instructor and fellow students.

Registration will open  October 15th. Put a reminder on your calendar, as the course fills up rapidly. The tuition is $60; however, if you qualify for JewishGen’s Value Added Services by virtue of a $100 donation within the last 12 months, you are welcome to enroll at no additional charge (to get the waiver do not enroll just yet, instead send a note the week before October 15th, with your JewishGen ID, to Jewishgen-Education@lyris.jewishgen.org).
