Phyllis Kramer, V.P. of Education, JewishGen Inc.
Background and Experience: Phyllis is a genealogist with primary interest in Eastern European Jewish research. She lives in New York City and Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Phyllis has a B.S. from Cornell and an MBA from Fordham University. Her work experience was technical and managerial, primarily for IBM; her final position was Business Consultant, where she was responsible for designing client image processing systems.
Phyllis’s genealogical accomplishments since taking early retirement, include:
compiling a family tree of 6400 people and locating relatives all over the world;

creating and teaching genealogy classes at Norwalk College, Savannah JCC and NYC's Museum of Jewish Heritage. Classes emphasize Genealogy on the Internet.

At JewishGen, Phyllis began in 1997 as an active member of the support staff
- taught a 12 week on-line genealogy course to 270 students
- created the online version of the 1891 Galician Business Directory
- developed 15 Shtetlinks web pages for her ancestor’s shtetls
- is a frequent contributor to the Discussion Group
- accepted the position of V.P. of Education in June of 2005, and
- became a member of the Advisory Board of Governors in 2009
- As part of her active role in the New York Jewish Genealogical Society, Phyllis was Co-chair of the Computer Committee at the 1999 IAJGS Genealogy Conference and Chair of (the first ever) Computer Laboratory at the August 2006 Conference. She is also a board member of the Palm Beach JGS.
