Background

This collection consists of the names of 257 prisoners, mostly apparently Jews, who perished in a subcamp of concentration camp Neuengamme located in Ahlem/Hannover.  These prisoners, mostly Polish, had been sent there from Auschwitz to work in a rubber factory.  The story of the prisoners at this factory is described in Wir wollten Gefühle sichtbar werden lassen, a book by Janet Anschütz and Irmtraud Heike, Edition Temmen, 2004.  The list was provided by the Neuengamme Memorial Site.
