This database includes records from the General Records Office (GRO) and Synagogue Registers which have been collected by many individuals and then donated to create this database.  All donors for this database and other United Kingdom databases are acknowledged here.  There are currently 15,847 records in this database from various parts of the United Kingdom.

  • GROOM NAME - the surname and forename(s) of the bridegroom
  • (GROOM HEBREW NAME(S) where given )
  • BRIDE'S NAME - the surname and forename(s) of the bride
  • (BRIDE'S HEBREW NAME - where given)
  • GROOM OTHER NAMES - any other surname by which the groom might have been/is known
  • BRIDE'S PREVIOUS SURNAME - for example if the bride was a divorced woman and her previous married name is given or if she had changed her name
  • GROOM AGE - Minor or M  (under 21 years of age), Full or F (over 21 years of age)
  • GROOM CONDITION - For example, Bachelor, Divorcee or Widower
  • GROOM RANK OR PROFESSION - Any title that the groom may have and/or his occupation
  • BRIDE'S AGE - Minor or M (under 21 years of age), Full or F (over 21 years of age)
  • BRIDE'S CONDITION - for example, Spinster, Divorcee or Widow
  • BRIDE'S RANK OR PROFESSION - any title that the bride may have or her occupation
  • GROOM'S ADDRESS
  • BRIDE'S ADDRESS
  • GROOM'S FATHER NAME - the surname and forename(s) of the groom's father
  • (GROOM'S FATHER HEBREW NAME - where given)
  • BRIDE'S FATHER NAME - the surname and forename(s) of the bride's father

  • GROOM'S FATHERS CONDITION - for example deceased
  • GROOM'S FATHER'S RANK OR PROFESSION - any title that the groom's father may have or his occupation. Sometimes 'deceased' appears in this column.
  • BRIDE'S FATHER'S CONDITION - for example deceased
  • BRIDE'S FATHER'S RANK OR PROFESSION - any title that the Bride's father may have or his occupation. Sometimes 'deceased' appears in this column.
  • GROOM'S MOTHER NAME - where given

  • SYNAGOGUE REG # - any number given in the Marriage Register held by the Synagogue where the marriage took place
  • SOURCE - The source from where the data emanated
  • OTHER SOURCE DATA - additional information contained within the data
  • COMMENTS - any comment or additional information

Note that in accordance with UK Data Protection, for marriages after 1 January 1930, the only data transcribed for publication is the year of marriage, the names and surnames of both parties and their fathers, together with the 'additional source data' field information and the source itself.
