Mergalaukis

Translated by Shaul Yannai

In Yiddish, Mergelupke

An estate in the Alytus district, near Simnas. The estate covered an area of 1,500 hectares (about 600 acres or 15,000 dunams). Mergalaukis belonged to Ber Goldberg and his sons Avraham and Max. In 1920, due to the agrarian reform by the government of Independent Lithuania, the estate had only 150 hectares (about 60 acres or 1500 dunams).
