Browse the VM archive to view user-generated images of Jewish historical subjects, documents, culture and places, up close. A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

3/5/2003 This is the reverse of a photograph of my grandfather Hirsch FRIEDMAN's first wife Fannie KROMHOLTZ / KRUMHOLTZ. I am looking for anyone who might recognize her (see forward of photograph) and / or be related to her. The only information I have about her is from photographs. She may have been deaf since my grandfather was. View the post, there are no responses

618 Translation - Hebrew

3/2/2003 This is from a list of weddings performed by Rabbi Naftali ben Schimon Blum (1705-1750). I can’t decipher the third and the fifth word in line 168: Khrr [=kvod haRav Rabi] Wolf mi[…] beMedinat […] im sugato…
The third word must be a village or a town, the fifth word is probably a country; I see the following letters: pej-jud-hej, the last one could be a ‘mem sofit’.
