Browse the VM archive to view user-generated images of Jewish historical subjects, documents, culture and places, up close. A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

1762 Translation - German

2/29/2004 This is a birth record of Moses Honig from Drohobych, 1853. His father was Josel, his mother was Sarah Brukner. The word I circled should be his father's occupation. Can anyone make out the circled word and perhaps the word between Sarah and Brukner? I would be very grateful for any help. Thank you.

2/29/2004 This image captures the first SIX chapter titles of a book titled "Mayn Shtetl Yedinets" by Golde Gutman-Krimer. It is a work of fiction but as it recounts life in Yedinets Bessarabia (now Edinet, Moldova aka YEDINTSY)it has been considered a Yizkor Book in the broader sense. There are eight pages in total of this nature and this is only the first to be posted. View the post with its 1 response

2/29/2004 I believe this is the birth record for Alex (Eliokum) VIGRANSKY b. Oct 9, 1859 to Isaac WIGRANSKY and Gutel LISCHKOFF. Interested in any additional info or conflicts. Also, there is some question as to where Alex was born -- Lazdijai? Wigrance? Bolokovi (family history sets Bolokovi as the location, but I've never been able to locate it. THANK YOU!
