Browse the VM archive to view user-generated images of Jewish historical subjects, documents, culture and places, up close. A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

21403 Translation - Polish

1/22/2012 4:29 PM Trying to ascertain if this is my great-great uncle who later immigrated to the United States. I'm interested in all genealogically relevant information, especially all names & towns mentioned. I've been told that the parents had similar (but distinct) surnames, so it would be helpful to know the mother's maiden name. Perhaps family originated in shtetl other than Sierpc? Dates would be helpful as well. View the post with its 1 response
21404 Translation - Polish

1/22/2012 4:29 PM I'd like to know as much detail as possible since this is the birth record of my great-great grandmother. This is an entirely new family for my research. I only know my gggm's name which I learned from her son's birth certificate. The document is from Sierpc, Poland, but I don't know if that's where the family originated. Maybe the record contains some clues? View the post with its 1 response
21406 Translation - Polish

1/22/2012 4:29 PM This is likely the death record for my great-great-great grandfather so all details including names and dates are important. As of now, I know nothing about the LOPATA family except that my great-great grandmother was Ester Sura LOPATA or LOPATKA. View the post with its 1 response
21407 Translation - Polish

1/22/2012 4:29 PM This may be the birth record for a brother of my great-great grandmother, so it's an opportunity to learn some details about this family which is new to my research. In a later document, the family surname is LOPATKA, not LOPATA, so I'm hoping they are just spelling variants of the same last name. View the post with its 1 response
