Browse the VM archive to view user-generated images of Jewish historical subjects, documents, culture and places, up close. A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

1422 Tombstone

12/28/2003 This is the tombstone of Myer Morgenroth. Can you figure out what the word ' reish aleph tess hay" in the middle of the arch means? The arched sentence on top includes his whole name, including surname. The same word is on his wife's (Rachel) tombstone as well.
(See another VM selection for that). Thanks

1469 Translation - Polish

12/28/2003 Extract from death certificate shows surviving wife and children. Is there any way to tell if the daughter's names Ruchla and Mala (Malya) are a first and middle name or two individual first names? Other records I have are confusing as I have a Ruchla Malya and a Mala on other documents for the same family. View the post, there are no responses
