Browse the VM archive to view user-generated images of Jewish historical subjects, documents, culture and places, up close. A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

5932 Tombstone

10/15/2006 This is the stone for Veilchen Liepman in Fort Scott, Kansas. She died December 16, 1886 in Fort Scott. I would like to know what this says, and especially if it gives any information about her history. I'm not sure of her birthplace or date of birth. (She was my g-g-g grandmother.) I do have a couple of other pictures of this, but they are not too clear, either. View the post, there are no responses
5933 Tombstone

10/15/2006 1. I would like to ask for a translation from Hebrew. Itīs my great-grandfatherīs tomb. As the writing was very light, I pressed a pencil over the letters to make it readable, although I donīt know Hebrew.
2. Is there any special meaning for the fact that this inscription is located at the back side of the headstone, and thereīs nothing written in the front part of the tomb?
