Browse the VM archive to view user-generated images of Jewish historical subjects, documents, culture and places, up close. A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

12988 Interpretation

6/21/2009 In the record of the birth of an ancestor dated 1810, her father (my gggggrandfather) signed his name in Hebrew cursive script). I knew him to be Moziek Dawidowicz (Moshe ben Dovid)and his father to have been Dawid Moskowicz (circa 1720 to 1790) of Dzialoszyn.
However this entry suggests that Dawid Moskowicz (Dovid ben Moshe) was a rabbi. I would be grateful for advice on whether this is so.
