A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

19518 Translation - Yiddish

7/13/2011 6:04 PM The Russian indicates the birth of twins, Hazkel and Malka Ruhlia Karinman, in Shargorod 13 Dec. (18 Tevet) 1847. Parents are Shulim Abramovich and his wife Alta. Bris was 20 Dec. (25 Tevet), and names are given for officiants: Tov Shehman, Leiba Rantburg, and Nuhtir Raizman. I believe Hazkel to be Yekhezkal, Shulim to be Shalom, Karinman to be Korenman; Alta was a daughter of Yankel. Can someone confirm the Yiddish entries? View the post with its 1 response
19515 Translation - Russian

7/10/2011 4:16 PM Hi,
I have been trying to verify the maiden name of my 2nd great grandmother. My Russian is terribly rusty. I believe it says Friedman? Would anyone like to take a stab at deciphering the Russian script? Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Zev
