Browse the VM archive to view user-generated images of Jewish historical subjects, documents, culture and places, up close. A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

5/15/2011 9:21 PM Please can someone transliterate the name of Jakob KORNFELD's mother (marked by red oval).
Also Jakob KORNFELD is listed with two wives. I read the second wife (II) as Suzana Grünberger. Is the first wife Elisabeth Grünberger or Humberger or what ?
Thank you
Peter

5/15/2011 9:21 PM Please can someone transliterate the exact words within the red ovals.
I think the name of the parents reads:
"Salomon Kornfeld [unable to read word] Salomon Mischl
Dorothea Asher"
His wife's name is Sara ROSENBAUM, but cannot read all of the other words.
Thank you
Peter

It is from a birth register entry for Moritz Kornfeld, son of Bernard Kornfeld
You can compare it with a similar entry for a sister of Moritz that I am also submitting to ViewMate

19038 Do you recognize?

5/15/2011 9:21 PM This is a bowling team photo belonging to my mother, Anita June (CHEATHAM) MERCY. She is on the right hand side standing. Kneeling is Hazel WISE, if my mother recalls correctly. She recalls the other woman as a "Jewish" woman. She recalls that the lady's husband offered to give her a gift of a cruise if she lost so much which which she did. Location is the Belaire Bowling Alley in Sylmar, CA. My mother normally bowled during the morning hours when we were at school. Wish to confirm/learn the identities of the two women. Thanks. Any translation/interpretation of this and preceding two images will be greatly appreciated.
