Browse the VM archive to view user-generated images of Jewish historical subjects, documents, culture and places, up close. A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

19716 Translation - Yiddish

7/31/2011 10:24 PM Judging from the envelope this letter was in, I am guessing it is between close Alkes relatives. It was sent from one Alkes in NJ to another Alkes in NY, though it could have been a letter from relatives in Bialystok being forwarded onto other relatives in the US or something. I suppose it could even be from a brother in Israel.

I would like a full translation of its contents as I have no idea what it relates to. I am guessing it is Yiddish but it could be Hebrew as well.

Thanks!
Judi

About this year his wife Lena and Becky went Poland to visit and find relatives. I would appreciate it if someone could translate the letter in full. The second page of the letter will follow.
