Browse the VM archive to view user-generated images of Jewish historical subjects, documents, culture and places, up close. A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

18968 Translation - German

5/11/2011 5:48 PM This is a copy of a birth certificate of Michael Pokorny, son of Isak and Barbara Pokorny. I can't seem to find the month and day in which he was born. Is it written out and I have not noticed? The German script is impenetrable for me. Thank you for your help! View the post with its 3 responses

18957 Translation - Russian

5/8/2011 4:58 PM Let me just thank those of you that are doing this for us. This is so much appreciated, it's beyond words to express how much.
I have this photo of my grandmother's oldest brother with this on the back. I think if I can get it translated it would give me the answer as to where they were from. It might say the name of the town where it was taken. Can you please translate every word so that I can figure this one out.
Barbara
