Browse the VM archive to view user-generated images of Jewish historical subjects, documents, culture and places, up close. A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

5/28/2008 Inscription from a Prayer Book (in German and Hebrew). Book is dated 1884 but the 1902 date appears to be the Bar Mitzvah date of father-in-law and lived in Hungary.I seem to read Hirsch Netti but other than that nothing else. Thank you! View the post with its 1 response

11965 Translation - German

5/28/2008 The attached picture is an 1860 Lemberg, Galicia death record (in German). I know from other research documents that Nachmen was the son of Kopel Rosenstroch & Blume Olmitz and died at 14 months old. I would like to know what the "nnnf kd" (umlaut over the 2nd n) meant and why they used 14 nusfrom or vussfrom? instead of 14 monat which is customary? I think the kd might be kv and mean kinder von (child of). Thank you. View the post with its 4 responses
