Browse the VM archive to view user-generated images of Jewish historical subjects, documents, culture and places, up close. A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

1/15/2012 4:14 PM This is the back of an envelope containing a letter to Lil Spiwak while she stayed with her father's sister's family in Capresti, Romania. The letter bears a US postmark on the front of Aug. 12.
Please can someone tell me about the place name "Sosire" on the Romanian postmark? And if you invert the image, can someone tell me the date it reached Capresti?

21307 Interpretation

1/15/2012 4:14 PM Whose flamboyant signature in Lil's diary is this? The date appears to be August 27, 1929. On the facing page is another fancy signature--can anyone translate it for me? It seems to bear the same date. View the post with its 1 response
