Browse the VM archive to view user-generated images of Jewish historical subjects, documents, culture and places, up close. A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

12/9/2012 4:07 PM This is from the 1744 Mattersdorf census. It is the household of Simon Koblenz, age 40. I cannot decipher the name of his wife which is at the end of line two and may continue onto line three. On the sixth line is their child who is 8 years old. I would like to know the name of the child also. Please let me know if there is anything else of genealogical value in this record. Thanks! View the post with its 2 responses

12/9/2012 4:06 PM I would like a translation please. This document deals with house ownership. I think part of it came from a last and will and testament. There is a daughter (whose name I can't figure out) who passed the house onto her son Moses Koblenzer.

Thanks!

12/9/2012 4:06 PM This is the Feb 13, 1855 Gora Kalwaria marriage record of Mosiek Cykiert age 18 (son of Josek and Sura nee Rubinsztejn) to Sura Sztajn. I am looking to see if I can find any connection between this Cykert family and my Warszaw Cukiert family. I would like to know if there is any additional information on the groom's side, such as the groom's father Josek's parents, etc.
Thanks

12/9/2012 4:05 PM My Hebrew is not good and the lettering is hard to read. I think it says he was CHAIM ben reb MOSHE, but would prefer a more experienced eye to read the whole stone.

Thanks!

12/9/2012 4:05 PM This image is part of Bendery Cemetery grave photos, and in the Registry it is listed as Nameless, but I believe some information might be taken from it. I changed color of the inscription (originally it was rusty-red). Also original image is 3 MgB. Please let me know if you see any names, dates, etc.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thank you,

Lara, thank you. I would be glad to email you better image, please send me your email address.
I also got some other response that it maybe Meir, son of Yehoshua...

Thanks, Yefim

I would like to thank all who responded, and improved an image somewhat.

It was an issue with the first name, but after seeing better images I think it is Zeid(e). It seems that 4 Hebrew letters of the first name are clear.
The last name might Chernovits or Chernovitser or even Chernovitskiy.

Again, thanks a lot for HELP!
