Browse the VM archive to view user-generated images of Jewish historical subjects, documents, culture and places, up close. A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

23047 Translation - German

6/3/2012 4:28 PM Hello,
This is the marriage record of my GGG Grandparents,
Seligmann Turkheimer and Karolina Gerson. I have several records like this and other vitals, with difficulty I can read the names of the bride/groom,date, I know the fathers are listed, witnesses at the bottom,
I suspect occupations, may be addresses somewhere.
I think these records are written in a standard format, so I'm hoping to understand the structure so I can find pertinent data in the text and translate myself.
I would like to use this translation as a guide to the other records I have.
Thank you for any assistance offered.

6/3/2012 4:27 PM These are my greatgrandparents in Czestochowa; Shaindl and Schlomo German. I do know know the date of this photo; Schlomo passed away before the war so my guess is this was taken early to mid 1930s. View the post, there are no responses
