Browse the VM archive to view user-generated images of Jewish historical subjects, documents, culture and places, up close. A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

13044 Translation - Polish

7/12/2009 This is the 1834 Kalisz marriage registration of Chaim Traube and Marye (Miriam) Lewin from Lutomiersk. She is the daughter of Pinchas (the son of Yaakov Aaron) and Sara Chana (the daughter of Chanoch and Chaya Szotten from Kalisz). Based on the index, the groom's name is Chaiman Fiszel Samson Hersz, though I do not know how much is a patronymic. I would like any information that you may be able to glean from the document, hopefully a full translation. my interest lies mostly with information on the bride's side. Additional information that may help in deciphering the document can be seen at http://www.hershfeld.com/family/individual.php?pid=I1521 . At that URL there is a link to a higher resolution scan of this document.
Thanks
