Browse the VM archive to view user-generated images of Jewish historical subjects, documents, culture and places, up close. A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

23146 Translation - Polish

6/10/2012 4:09 PM This is the front side of the wedding invitation from previous submission VM 23086. Thanks to the translation of the invitation it is clear the Father of the bride is Hersh Szwarc of Myszkow.

Could someone please translate the handwritten part of this document and provide the context if any.. We can make out Olkusz but not sure how it is referenced. We know there is a brother of my GF named Moshke Wilhelm but not sure in this context if the announcement is addressed to Moshke or if he is the groom.

Thank you

6/10/2012 4:08 PM This is an 1897 death record from Lodz. I believe that it's for my great great grandfather Lewek (Lajbus) Brzezinski, born in about 1816. I would like to know information concerning the deceased, his parents, and his wife (names, ages, dates, towns, and occupations, if any). I don't need information concerning the witnesses. Thanks for your help. View the post with its 1 response

Is this Yiddish or another writing?
I am really interested and would appreciate a full translation. The other side has a family picture of 5 people related to my mother-in-law. The family is from Lodz, Poland.

Thank you so much,
Corinne
