Browse the VM archive to view user-generated images of Jewish historical subjects, documents, culture and places, up close. A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

3/14/2012 4:09 PM This is an 1829 marriage record of Motel BLONES and Chaia Laja ZELDYNER in Leczna, Poland. Motel's family lives about 12 miles away in Lublin. The record states Motel is from Lublin, but on line 5 it states he was born in the city of Mosie? Lublin. Is that a town in the gubernia of Lublin? Or am I missing something. I cannot find Mosie in WOWW.
At the end of line 7 the bride is named as Laia Chaia Soloman Leybowa. Her father's name is Beniamin. If I'm reading this correctly, who would Soloman and/or Leybowa be? Her surname is listed incorrectly as KELDYNER once and then ZELDYNER throughout the rest of the document.

22052 Translation - Yiddish

3/14/2012 4:08 PM I know most of the translation. There is one word I can't get translated. It is the name of the child that I want to know.
the translation reads "To Uncle Leon and Aunt Rose.
This is my (.....)" Can you translate the name?? The rest of the translation is "but poorly taken(Bad Photo)until I get a correct photo of him or her next to our apartment."

My name is Bob Greenstein the Yiddish message was written by my Aunt Sarah Wojenczer-Wabrzan to her sister Rose Greenstein in America. My email is bobbygwhiz@wbhsi.net.

I need the name of the child? Even take a wild guess. Just give me something. Don't tell me you can't. I can give you a hint but I don't want to influence you to my translation. I need independent verification. Give this to you best Yiddish Maven. Sincerely, Bob Greenstein
