Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

7/8/2009 Commander Katz was probably a Navy Doctor most likely stationed at a hospital or medical facility at Subic Bay (Philippines) during WWII. Rosabelle Hamann was an American Red Cross Nurse serving in New Guinea and the Phillippines in 1944-45. Rosabelle painted watercolor portraits of the Soldiers she met and cared for. On the back of the original portrait it states "Commander Katz caught Jones cold in Ward 17".

If anyone can identify Commander Katz from this portrait or knows a Commander Katz that served in the war during this time please contact Diane Pirzada at www.dianepirzada.com or researcher 333086 - Beryl Susan Steinfeld.
