A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

1218 Translation - Polish

10/15/2003 These inscriptions are on the backs of photos sent from Nowy Dwor Mazowiecki, Poland to relatives in New York probably in the late 1930's. The two girls were sisters, whose parents and siblings still lived in Poland, although their aunts and uncles had all come to the US decades earlier. I believe they were sent to my grandmother, their aunt, Gussie (Gela Malka) Simon. View the post, there are no responses
1219 Translation - Yiddish

10/15/2003 This is the inscription on the back of a postcard photo, which may have come from France. It shows a man with his small daughter, possibly from the 1920's (based on the girl's dress). Several of my relatives immigrated to the US via Le Havre, France, so it's possible that the photo of these people was taken there as well. View the post, there are no responses

10/15/2003 Comparing the writing on the five lines, I suspect that the fourth line says (in error) "don't Austria" while intending to say "don't know." Does anyone see this differently? View the post, there are no responses
