This photo, regarding I. Mandelbaum shoe repair shop in Lublin, was found in YIVO web site. My gr'grandfather Shaje Mandelbaum, Son of Israel Mordechai Mandelbaum, from Lublin, was also in the shoe bbusiness. I would appreciate any info. that will help determine whether there is a family connection to this picture or not. |

These inscriptions are on the backs of photos sent from Nowy Dwor Mazowiecki, Poland to relatives in New York probably in the late 1930's. The two girls were sisters, whose parents and siblings still lived in Poland, although their aunts and uncles had all come to the US decades earlier. I believe they were sent to my grandmother, their aunt, Gussie (Gela Malka) Simon. |

This is the inscription on the back of a postcard photo, which may have come from France. It shows a man with his small daughter, possibly from the 1920's (based on the girl's dress). Several of my relatives immigrated to the US via Le Havre, France, so it's possible that the photo of these people was taken there as well. |

Comparing the writing on the five lines, I suspect that the fourth line says (in error) "don't Austria" while intending to say "don't know." Does anyone see this differently? |
