Browse the VM archive to view user-generated images of Jewish historical subjects, documents, culture and places, up close. A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

4/26/2009 I am told that this might be Isaac Jacob and Hanna Pollack. I had thought they were Siegler's but now not so sure. Pollacks lived in north-west Lithuania, but might have been in Riga in Latvia as well.

Alternate spelling Poliak.

Please contact me either through the response system on viewmate, or if that doesn't work, with my JG ID 75547.

4/22/2009 This is the inscription in a very old prayer book I recently found at my synagogue. I have no idea what language it's in, but would be very grateful if anyone can tell me what it says. I'm guessing it is the name of the person who owned the prayer book. View the post with its 4 responses
