7/25/2012 5:06 PM I would like to identify this uniform. Is it Polish Army? Russian Army? Do you know name of battalion unit? How would I find his military records? He was born 8 May 1884 and left Poland circa 1900. Full name: Stanislaus STRENKOWSKI. Parents: Victor and Apollonia. View the post with its 3 responses

7/25/2012 5:05 PM This is an example of what I think is an original ship manifest, with four first names crossed out and a different first name was overwritten in a different handwriting. This modification could have taken place either on the ship or at Ellis Island by an immigration officer. The officer may have tried to assure himself that the person he is interviewing is the same person as that on the manifest. View the post with its 1 response

23786 Interpretation

7/25/2012 5:04 PM This is the WWII registration card for my great grandpa Ben. I have been able to figure out all the information except for the town he was born in.

I see it starting as "K-O-B-L" and then I cannot determine the rest. I'm hoping that someone on here can help. Thank you in advance.

23773 Translation - Yiddish

7/25/2012 5:02 PM A cousin gave this to me recently. She found it among my great uncle's Edward Shapiro's possessions. I believe it might be a birth certificate for my great grandfather who ended up being Joseph Shapiro in this country, but I think he might have been Saul Schapira when he was born, or even a totally different surname. At the bottom, are some words in Russian, then I think the printed words above are in Hebrew, but the handwritten words, I think are written in Yiddish. There are several dates on the document, so I'm thinking maybe it was a birth certificate, then other major life events were written in Yiddish. I'm not really sure, but I am very interested to find out. View the post with its 3 responses
23771 Translation - Russian

7/25/2012 5:02 PM I am not sure what this document is, I think it may be some sort of identification or passport document. I am guessing that is in Russian because it states on it that it has been seen by the Imperial Russian Vice Consulate. I would like a full translation if possible please. If it is too difficult to read please let me know and I will try and improve the image, which is a scan of a photocopy.
Thank you

23770 Translation - Hebrew

7/25/2012 5:01 PM I presume this is a standard Ketubah - the printed stuff is in Aramaic and the hand written is in Hebrew and gives details such as date place names and witnesses. Please can someone translate all of the handwritten information for me.
Thank you
