Browse the VM archive to view user-generated images of Jewish historical subjects, documents, culture and places, up close. A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

22087 Translation - Hebrew

3/18/2012 4:05 PM This is the 1933 NYC marriage certificate of my father Henry Lester to my mother Renee Heimler. I'm trying to obtain ONLY the specifc Hebrew names entered for my father (Henry Lester) & my grand-father (Leo Lester). I have no written record of my father's Hebrew name; his matzeva has no Hebrew script on it. We may have used Chaim when I was called to Torah, but I'm not really sure. My grandfather Leo was Yehuda Leibush on his own ketubah and Leibish ben Mordechi (referring to my great grandfather Morris Lester) on his metzeva. View the post with its 3 responses

3/18/2012 4:03 PM This is a scan I received from an Archive in Germany. It is the address side of what is believed to be the last correspondence received from my Grandfather Hersz Wolf Ingberg (sent to his son). I would like a translation of the words under the sender's address. It looks like "baj Pozenieer". View the post with its 3 responses
