Browse the VM archive to view user-generated images of Jewish historical subjects, documents, culture and places, up close. A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

26192 Tombstone

2/17/2013 3:55 PM I'm looking to get these Hebrew inscriptions translated into English from my great grandparent's headstones. I'm hoping to confirm the names of their fathers and if I'm lucky get a maiden name for my great grandmother.
Thanks in advance for any help.

2/17/2013 3:55 PM A card Tcharna Tzarevkan wrote to her son David Cohen in America. Most of it is in Yiddish. Some appears to be in French. Is there also Romanian in there?

I would like a full translation of the card with a sense of the writer's voice and tone.

Thank you!

(Reverse of photograph uploaded separately). Thanks for any comments and thougts! View the post with its 2 responses

26176 Translation - Polish

2/17/2013 3:52 PM I believe this is an Extract of an official document -- possibly regarding the marriage of Szmul Ertel and Dwejra-Perla Feld. I know that the parents of each are listed, but if there is a marriage date and location I do not see those. I would like to have a full translation of the document, if possible.

Thank you.
