Browse the VM archive to view user-generated images of Jewish historical subjects, documents, culture and places, up close. A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

7/18/2010 5:08 PM Hello all. This is my grandmother's death certificate. She died in New York and would have been buried in or around New York or New Jersey. Can anyone read the name of the cemetery at the bottom of the page which is written in handwriting? It looks to me like "_______ David Cemetery" but I cant be sure and I need some help in locating her final resting place. View the post with its 1 response

15914 Interpretation

7/18/2010 5:06 PM I am doing research for a friend whose grandmother, surname BABEY or BABIJ immigrated to the US about 1912 from the Ukraine. This image, which is about 10X12 inches, is on the inside of a hope chest that belonged to her.

Can anyone identify anything specific about the picture of this girl?

Thanks

15871 Tombstone

7/18/2010 5:06 PM There is a discrepancy between the death date on the stone and the death certificate. I would like to know if the Hebrew death date is there and what it says. I would also appreciate confirmation of her name. Variations: Getva, Gittel, Gertrude, Jettie (on death cert.) View the post with its 2 responses
