12/8/2015 4:46 AM Re file 43526 I'm posting here because you closed the file. The translation of the first responder isn't correct. The sentence transliterates as: "vos ir vilt visn ver s'iz do fun aiere fraint". Meaning: "(regarding) what you want to know (about) who is there from your friends". The word is not "sibes", like the first responder says, but a contraction of "es iz" = "s'iz" (literally: samekh-apostrophe-alef-yud-zayin) which means "there is".
There are many spelling mistakes in the Yiddish text of this letter and that is why you were unable to find certain words in the dictionary.
If you look up "farmegn" spelled correctly (fei-alef-resh-mem-ayin-gimel-nun) you will find it.
Hope this helps.
