8/7/2013 7:59 PM Hello Risa,

One of the phrases from this stone is inscribed : "our dear elderly mother". Her name was Channa Bas/(daughter of) Bida, of blessed memory. She was the wife of Gabriel Kassorlah, also of blessed memory. She died during the Hebrew month of Tishri. The five final Hebrew letters stand for the often used phrase: "May her soul be bound up in the bonds of eternal life".

Hope that this is helpful to you....Jo

The rounded line at the top is a Biblical quote, also a Sabbath hymn,
A woman of valor who can find, her value is far greater than pearls.

Line 2 is the hebrew phrase Boruch Hagozer --- Blessed be the One who decrees our fate.

Line 3: our hearts are broken on account of the death of
Line 4: our beloved, aged mother
Line 5: the esteemed Hannah daughter of Bidah, of blessed memory (meaning he was dead at the time of Hannah's death)
Line 6: wife of Gabriel kassorleh, of blessed memory (as above)
Line 7: who died on the 16th of Tishrei 5700 (i.e. 29 September 1939)
Line 8: May her soul be bound in eternal life.

Good luck,
Jack
