6/2/2013 7:46 PM Here lies my dear father Moshe son of Chaneh, May he rest in peace. Died 6 Shevat 5663. May his soul be bound up in the bond of (everlasting) life.

Here lies my dear mother Chana dsughter of Pina, Mey he rest in peace. Died 29 Tamuz 5665. May her soul be bound up ....

6/3/2013 10:22 AM To me Chana's mother's name looks like Feiga, and not like Pina.
6/3/2013 3:53 PM Hello Joanne,

It is interesting that the Hebrew name of Morris Herskowitz is as Reb Moshe Ben/(son of) Chana. It is more customary that the name is shown as son of father rather than the mother. I'm not sure under what conditions this would be done, or if it was just preference in this case.

This leads me to wonder if the name Hannah is Chana Bat/(daughter of) Feige (woman's name) rather than Pina. This could be the same reasoning and preference as the other side. To be sure, the lettering in question are hard to decipher....Jo
6/3/2013 3:56 PM Joanne,

A little further explanation of the word "Reb" in the name of Morris Herskowitz. It is merely a title of honor and respect and does NOT imply rabbi....Jo
