This postcard was written by by Jacob Isak Sicherman--a soldier in the Austro-Hungarian army whose job was to return captured deserters to their units--to his children c/o his sister Salina (Sarah) Sicherman at 23 Wordomen St. in Szatmár in Hungary (now Satu Mare in Romania); there is an addendum in Yiddish. He tells the children that he’s traveling again. The picture (not submitted to JewishGen), on which J.I.S. has written the date and his signature, shows a long vista of gardens leading to the Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna, seen romantically through a semi-ruined arch. The year can be inferred from related postcards.
