On  Response
3/11/2013 7:31 PM I am sure you don't want to hear this, but I don't think it wise to translate from a translation. Any error that has crept into the translation (and it does happen) will be compounded. Can you not find anyone who can translate directly from Yiddish into Polish?
3/12/2013 3:33 PM Yes, I think, the first responder is right...Would it be a help, if I gave you a transliteration of the Yiddish?
Probably, someone could find it easier to translate from transliterated Yiddish to Polish?
3/14/2013 9:11 AM Mr. Jedrula has written me, in response to my post, that he cannot find anyone to translate directly from Yiddish to Polish. This might really be the case, unfortunately; I have myself tried since this posting and could not find anyone. He also writes that he has had success having Yiddish translated into Czech and then from Czech to Polish. Sometimes you just have to use the resources you have, even if not ideal. What do the Italians say? Transltors are traitors - something is usually lost in translation, in a translation from a translation even more is lost.
3/14/2013 9:13 AM I would, however, recommend getting in touch with YIVO (www.yivo.org). They may know of a Yiddish to Polish translator.
3/14/2013 9:16 AM and at YIVO I suggest contacting Dr. Paul Glasser.
