I'm looking for Hebrew translation help from the Hanau and Mainz Memorbuchs. There are about 10 records that I'm looking for translations, half are of similar difficulty to this one and the other half are written in block Hebrew letters and are very easy to read. Hoping someone can decipher this handwriting, this one particularly should be of Menachem HaKohen, who died in the 1620s. Thank you.

2/25/2013 9:00 PM I can read "Yaakov Hacohen"..perhaps if I saw a better copy of it, I would be able to tell you more
8/3/2013 4:31 AM The left edge is cut off in this image, however you can see the name Menachem on th left.
The underlined text on the right says "son of the pious R' David Yaakov HaKohen."
8/20/2013 11:48 PM Michael,

Line 1: May the Lord remember the soul of the "Aluf" (honorific for community leader), the pious, well versed in the Torah, our teacher and Rabbi, Rabbi Menachem (last part of name is cut off)

Line 2: son of the "Haver" (member of community) r' David Yaakov HaCohen along with the souls of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob

Line 3: because his son gave a gift of charity for the sustenance of the Synagogue ------

Line 4: May his soul be eternally bound with the souls of the righteous

Line 5: Died at the conclusion of the Sabbath, 6 Kislev, and buried

Line 7: on Sunday, 7 Kislev, in the year 5383 (that is 10 November 1622)

Good luck in your research,
Jack
