This is my great grandparents Jewish Marriage Authorisation Certificate. I've been told the hebrew writing is ancient hebrew. Please could somebody translate the ancient hebrew names of my great grandfather Lewis Pearce and his brothers. Also curious to know what any of the other hebrew says. Does anyone recognise and have any information about the place Garvery in Russia? and the place name Tarverig? I'm tracing my Jewish ancestry, and would really like to know what my ancestors hebrew surname was and where we came from so I can take my search further. Would anyone know the route they would have taken to England and on what ship? The family story is they fled from persecution in Russia. Any other information about the certificate most welcome. Many thanks for any help and for your time.
