I would like a direct translation of #37, death index for Aba Waltuch, my greatgreatgrandfather. I am not sure if the handwriting is in Polish or German. I can figure out that his parents were Israel and Ryfke. The house number is 856. Help with the rest of the translation would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

2/4/2013 5:18 PM It is definitely Polish. (The headings at the tops of the columns may be in German and/or Polish)
2/5/2013 2:27 AM I Can ensure you it's polish language. From my short research . This handwriting is pretty illegible for me anyway.

The town is Zbaraż which is located in Ukraine http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zbara%C5%BC

I also deciphered that your greatgranfather was the son of Daniel (??? im not sure here) and Ryfka (popular Jewish female name).

2/5/2013 3:11 AM Aba WALTUCH died 17 April (kwietnia in Polish) 1894. He was the son of Israel and Ryfka.
2/5/2013 5:47 AM This is definitely Polish. The first column states date of 17th April 1894 and the name of the town (Zbaraż). There is also a number 87 below, I think, and something that seems to me a doctor's name (Dr for "doktor", and then... Dergon? I am not sure).

In the next set of columns there is something that I cannot decipher (is it a time? it looks like "o godz. " ["o godzinie", "at ... o'clock] and then two illegible words). Later, there is a date of 17th April 1894, name of the town (Zbaraż) and the number of 856 (not sure what it refers to, since the column headings are missing).

Then there is another date, 2 days later (19th April 1894).

The next columns states the name of Aba Waltuch, and probably his profession, but unfortunately I cannot decipher it. It looks like "[illegible noun] przy (at) [illegible noun] [illegible adjective?] w Zbarażu (in Zbaraż), syn Israela i Ryfki (son of Israel and Ryfka)".

The last colums states the sex ("męska" = male).
